Intrepid
The Intrepid is a World War II era aircraft carrier docked near 45th Street on the west side of Manhattan along the Hudson River. It's a floating museum since it was retired in 1982. I took this photo two days before its move -- six tugboats will move it five miles down the Hudson River to Bayonne, NJ, where it will be dry docked for two years for a complete restoration and refurbishment, almost a $60 million project. It is scheduled to return to this same pier in late 2008 where it will again be open to the public.
